The hardcover is in very good condition with light wear and bumping to the boards. The edges of the textblock and the endpapers have light foxing and there is a dampstain on the lower edge of the rear pastedown where it looks like a label was removed. The previous owner's name, Vincent H. Butler, is in pen in a nice hand on the ffep. The dust jacket is poor with chipping on the edges and corners and heavy chipping and loss at the head and tail of the spine (see photo). There is some sun darkening on the spine panel, and a splotch of white paint in the center of the front panel. There are also some notes in pencil on the rear flap of the jacket. The jacket is not price cut (25s net). This book includes a typed and signed letter from the author to Rev. Vincent Butler in Germany (Rev. Butler was originally from Pierson, Michigan). The letter is in very good condition. The envelope, postmarked 13 January 1960 in Battersea, has tears. Also included are two pages of notes in pencil from a 1959 lecture by the author, Prof. Leslie Paul. No bookplates, NOT ex-library. No writing, names, or bookplate. NOT ex-library.
